The San Francisco Seals are in Portland to play a 3 game series. They won 3 of 4 at home against Seattle over the weekend. They have won 7 of their last 9. We are 3-0 against them so far this year. This is their first trip to the Skydome. They are 9th in scoring in the PCL with 3.72 runs per game (Portland is #8 with 3.90). They are 5th in fewest runs allowed with 3.87 per game (Portland is still #1 with 3.03).

Dan Fortino draws a walk... Clint Graham lines a hit to center and Fortino beats the throw to 3rd. Chris Greenwald swings at the first pitch and grounds into a 4-6-3 double play as Fortino scores. 1 to 0, Seals. Marcos Barron pops out to 3rd.

Bottom of the First:
Paul Bouvet swings at the first pitch and pops out to right. Dave Lesley grounds out to short. Larry Sinchak grounds a hit to center. Jeff Austin grounds a hit to left. Tony Casarez swings at the first pitch and flies out to deep center.

Bottom of the Third:
With 2 outs, Larry Sinchak grounds a hit to left and Jeff Austin follows with a home run! 2 to 1, Beavers!

Top of the Fourth:

With 1 out, Marcos Barron homers to left to tie the game, 2 to 2.

Bottom of the Fourth:
With 1 out, Woody Griesbach takes a 3-2 pitch for ball 4 and steals 2nd. With 2 outs, P Don Panighetti grounds a hit to center, but Griesbach gets thrown out at the plate by CF Dan Fortino...

Bottom of the Sixth:
Tony Casarez leads off with a home run to left center! 3 to 2, Beavers!

Top of the Seventh:
With 1 out, Gary Halbert ties the game at 3 with a home run to left... They have only 3 hits.

Bottom of the Seventh:

PH Eddie Thomas (26-R) leads off with a walk and goes to 3rd on a hit to center by Paul Bouvet. Dave Lesley up and Bouvet steals 2nd on the first pitch thrown to him. They bring the infield in and Lesley lines a hit to right and both runners score!! 5 to 3, Beavers! That sends P Rex Wooley to the showers. New Pitcher: Gus Hanauer (29-R). 1.83 ERA. PH Omar Flores (21-L) fouls out to the catcher. Jeff Austin strikes out. Tony Casarez strikes out.

Bottom of the Eighth:
New Pitcher: Lee Redden (29-R). 4.94 ERA. Jeff Schottler leads off with a walk. With 1 out, PH Bob Draper (23-L) doubles to left center. Eddie Thomas up and Redden throws a wild pitch and Schottler scores! 6 to 3, Beavers! Thomas takes a 3-2 pitch for ball 4. Paul Bouvet grounds into a force at 2nd, 6-4, and Draper scores. 7 to 3, Beavers. Dave Lesley beats out an infield hit. LF Tom Borden (30-L), who came on in a double switch last inning, grounds out to 1st, unassisted.

Don Panighetti (W 4-3) went 7 innings, allowed 3 runs, 3 hits, 2 home runs, 3 walks and struck out 5. At bat, he had a hit.
RHP Don Schmidt (SV 9) went 2 scoreless innings, allowed 1 hit and struck out 3.

Rex Wooley (L 0-2) went 6+ innings, gave us 5 runs, 9 hits, 2 home runs, 3 walks and struck out no one.

2B Paul Bouvet had 2 hits, stole a base, scored a run and had an RBI. SS/3B Dave Lesley had 2 hits and 2 RBI. 3B Larry Sinchak had 2 hits and scored a run. 1B Jeff Austin had 2 hits with his 10th home run of the season and 2 RBI. LF Tony Casarez hit his 5th home run. PH Bob Draper hit a double and scored a run, but I ended his 7 game RBI streak. PH/SS Eddie Thomas drew 2 walks and scored a run.
