SD: Morgan Wilson (28-R 3-1 3.17) vs. POR: Dave Shoemake (27-R 1-0 2.02) Rookie

We beat Wilson the only time we faced him this season, but he only gave us 3 runs in 7 innings.

Shoemake pitched a 6 hit shutout in his 1st start, but was shelled for 9 hits and 4 runs in 4.1 innings last time out. This will be a do or die game for him.

Paul Bouvet swings at the first pitch and grounds a hit past the third baseman. With Bob Draper up, Bouvet steals 2nd on a 1-0 pitch. Draper lines a 3-1 pitch to left for a hit and Bouvet scores! 1 to 0, Beavers! Omar Flores grounds into a force at 2nd, 6-4. Jeff Austin grounds a hit up the middle. Tony Casarez grounds one to 1st, but Ernesto Najarro boots it and Austin scores. 8 to 0, Beavers! Dave Lesley grounds into a force at 2nd, 5-4. Jeff Schottler strikes out. Dennis Webb singles to center. P Dave Shoemake gets plunked to load the bases up with 2 outs. Paul Bouvet lines one to center and Hall Baumgardner races back and gloves the ball, but drops it for a 2 base error! 10 to 0, Beavers! Bob Draper, who led off this inning, takes a 4 pitch walk to load the bases back up. Omar Flores flies out to deep right.

RF Bob Draper continued his hot start to his Major League career with 2 hits, including a double. He drew a walk, scored a run and had 2 RBI. 3B Omar Flores had 2 hits with a double and scored 2 runs. 1B Jeff Austin had 2 hits with a triple, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBI. LF Tony Casarez hit his 4th home run of the season and had 4 RBI. C Dennis Webb went 4 for 4 with a double and scored 2 runs.

For the Padres, 2B Roger Rojas had 3 hits with a double.
