05/30/1972 - San Francisco beats LA on Kingman's Walk Off 3-Run Homer in the 9th

The San Francisco Giants knocked off the Los Angeles Dodgers, 7-6, at Candlestick Park. Dave Kingman, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason San Francisco won. The first baseman went 4-5 with a home run, a triple, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. John W Morris got credit for the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. The Giants are now 21-31, while the Dodgers fall to 27-22.

Kingman had a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth. On a 1-1 fastball from LHP Jim Brewer, he banged a 3-run shot to left-center, giving the Giants a 7-6 lead. It was the 13th home run of the year for Kingman.

"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Kingman, "but we got it done."
