My team WAR was 21.7 in 69 and 12.8 in 70.
Interestingly, I decided just to roll with it and when the draft pool was published on Sept 1 it was like the Expos, Royals and us were all in a dead heat to tank for the #1 pick (Schmidt, Brett and Rice). I, unfortunately, finished one game ahead of both the Expos and Royals. The Royals, fortunately, did not take Brett at #2 or #3 (comp pick) so I got him at 4. He's a few years away though.
I don't mind rebuilding. I just feel like, even in real life, the fans and ownership would have turned on me with such a drastic downward swing. Even though, long-term, I think we'll wind up competitive.
