I don't agree with your premise. I don't believe you'd be canned yet if you didn't check "can't be fired". I never check that box, routinely take over projects such as the 2019 Marlins and almost never get fired before I'm able to turn the team around. If you want to feel like you aren't "cheating" in order to remain the manager then unclick the box preventing you from being fired and see what happens. I doubt you'd be fired this quickly. Also, what are your owner goals. Completing some of those will help to keep your owner happy.
