Walkers news: May 5 -- Madison 4, St. Louis 3, 11 innings

Record: 16-12, 2nd, 2.5 GB Kansas City
Reese McGuire led off the top of the 11th inning with a single off St. Louis' Reyes Moronta and came around to score on a Cole Brannen ground out to help lift Madison to a 4-3 extra-inning win at Busch Stadium (1997).
McGuire had moved to third when pinch-hitter Chad Pinder followed his single with a double.
With the win, Madison took two of its three games against the River Walkers.
The Muskies had taken a 3-2 lead in the top of the fifth when Nomar Mazara double off River Walkers starting pitcher Alex Faedo and scored on a Francisco Lindor single.
A single by Matt Olson had moved Mazara to third.
St. Louis tied it in the seventh Austin Hedges doubled and scored on a pinch-hit double from Rhys Hoskins off Luke Gregerson.
Madison starter Keegan Thompson worked six innings, allowing two runs on four hits. He struck out one and walked none.
Six relievers combined to work the next five innings.
Only Gregerson worked at least an inning, when he gave up that run in the seventh.
Closer Jared Miller handled the 10th and 11th and earned his first win of the season.
