Modern Day Rosters...With a Twist

I got this idea from one of my online league that had a "Legacy Player" draft. I did some searching on Baseball-Reference and looked at each team's top WAR players, both hitters and pitchers, and picked the top (or at least in the top 10) player that is retired. I am going to import that player onto each of their teams, mostly just because I am curious how they will do in a more modern era (even though some are more recent players.) Some were difficult, for example Barry Bonds had a higher WAR than Willie Mays, but I went with Mays over Bonds. Some of the newer teams were more difficult as well with fewer players to choose from. Any suggestions for different players to use other than the list I came up with? Thanks for your thoughts!
