In the bottom of the first, a Wynn sacrifice fly put the Rangers on the board.

In the bottom of the second, the Rangers loaded the bases with two out. Nelson grounded to third to end the inning.

Stanhouse had a no-hitter through three.

Mayberry led off the top of the fourth with a single to break up the no-hitter. Rojas tied the game with an RBI single. Schaal walked to load the bases with one out. Kirkpatrick went down swinging for the second out. Splittorff struck out to retire the side.

In the bottom of the fourth, Kubiak hit a two-run homer to give the Rangers the lead back.

In the top of the sixth, the Royals loaded the bases with two out. Splittorff drew a walk to bring home a run. Patek hit a two-run single to give the Royals the lead.

With a runner on first and two out in the bottom of the sixth, Ted W Abernathy took the mound for the Royals and got Nelson to fly out to end the inning.

After six: Kansas City 4 Texas 3.

Paul Lindblad took the mound for the Rangers in the top of the seventh.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Rangers loaded the bases with one out. Tom Burgmeier took the mound for the Royals. Billings popped up for the second out. Pinch hitter Frank Howard flew out to center to end the inning.

In the top of the eighth, Patek hit an RBI single.

Jim Rooker took the mound for the Royals in the bottom of the eighth.

Casey Cox took the mound for the Rangers in the top of the ninth.

Rooker struck out the side in the bottom of the ninth.

The Royals got 11 hits in the win.
