Today is the third game in the series in Cincinnati between the Pirates and the Reds. The Pirates have held the Reds to two runs in each of the first two games in the series to start off the season 2-0.
The Pirates signed free agent 3B Rabbit Robinson to a minor league contract.
The Detroit Tigers traded C Oscar Stanage and 1B Del Gainer to the Chicago White Sox for RP Fred Olmstead.

In the bottom of the second, two errors by the Pirates helped the Reds get their first run before they got their first hit as Bescher scored from third when Egan grounded to short.

In the bottom of the fourth, Hoblitzell scored from third when Mitchell grounded to short and the game was tied.

In the bottom of the eighth, Lobert put the Reds in the lead with a two-out RBI double.
In the top of the ninth, with the tying run at first and two out, Rowan struck out Clarke to end the game.
The Pirates lost despite out-hitting the Reds 10-5.
