Bob Miller - Oldest living 'Whiz Kid' turns 93
Bob Miller, the older of the two living 1950 National League Champion Philadelphia Phillies "Whiz Kids" turns 93, today, June 16.
Miller pitched all or parts of 10 seasons with the Phillies from 1949 to 1958. Miller, a RHP debuted with 3 relief appearances in
September 1949. In 1950, his first full season in the majors, Miller earned a spot in the Phillies starting rotation in Spring Training and
he was 8-0 at the all-star break, but he was overlooked for all-star honors. He finished the season at 11-6, with a 3.57 e.r.a.
The only other living 1950 Phillies player, LHP - Curt Simmons (17-9 in 1950, but also overlooked for all-star selection) turned 90
less than one month ago (May 19).
