PREMIER LEAGUE HOCKEY NEWS

Today's Scores
Montreal Champions 3 - 1 Ottawa Nationals
Colorado Eagles 2 - 6 Los Angeles Sharks
Quebec Nordiques 4 - 1 New England Whalers

Game of the Day:
San Francisco Arrows 2 - 0 St. Paul Cardinals
The Nest, St. Paul

A team under fire, rumours of sale and possible relocation growing louder and louder, the Arrows arrived at the Nest a team with a lot to prove - and boy, did they go a long way toward doing so. Led by the inspired goaltending of Jordan Beck who posted the second shutout of the season, the Arrows held the Cardinals scoreless to register their fifth win of the season and drag themselves off the league's basement, leaving the Cardinals and Sharks beneath them.

David Jech seemed to be skating like a man possessed for the Arrows last night as he was everywhere for the first ten minutes of the game, scoring in the eighth before getting called for hooking in the eleventh. St. Paul was seemingly nowhere, except for the ever-present and ever-determined veteran Fred Seawright, who skated 21 minutes, took two shots, landed a massive hit against Jeff McGeoch and engineered a takeaway in what can only be described as an "inspirational" effort. It wasn't, however, enough to stop David Jech setting up Dominik Dano for the second goal of the night, on the powerplay when Matthew Heximer was in the box halfway through the second.

Despite the Cards piling on the pressure in the third, Jordan Beck was up to the challenge, stopping 12 shots in the last twenty minutes - 33 total for the night - to ensure his team got away with the points. They go on to Seattle on Monday before heading home to face Michigan on Wednesday. The road gets little easier for the Cards: they host the Mountain East leading Nordiques on Sunday before heading out on the road for a trip that sees them battle the resurgent Cougars before an away-and-home series against the dominant Seattle Nightmare.
