Walkers news: July 20 -- St. Louis 8, Chicago 4

St. Louis poured across five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to overcome a one-run deficit and defeat Chicago 8-4 at Busch Stadium.
A two-run homer from Andrew Benintendi off G-Men starter Bryan Mitchell in the first inning had staked the Walkers to a 2-0 lead.
But Chicago used the long ball to overcome that and eventually take the lead.

Josh Donaldson hit a solo shot off St. Louis starter Aaron Nola in the fourth inning to make it 2-1.
A two-run homer from Brandon Crawford an inning later put Chicago in front 3-2.

Nick Markakis then took Nola deep in the seventh to stretch that advantage to 4-2.
Chicago starter Bryan Mitchell had left with a 3-2 lead after throwing 94 pitches over seven innings.
His replacement, former starter Zach Greinke, got through the seventh unscathed but when things fell apart for him in the eighth they would not go to his rescue with the rest of its bullpen gassed.
Greinke walked three batters in the eighth and allowed an RBI double to Benintendi, an RBI single to Rhys Hoskins, an RBI single to Nicky Delmonico and a run scoring single to Manny Pina before being replaced.
Jeruys Familia took the mound for Greinke, and allowed another run-scoring hit, this one from pinch-hitter Franchy Cordero, as the Walkers lead grew to 8-4.
