Since we're getting close to our first live draft, I'll take a moment to try to sell the three teams we still need GMs for:
Philadelphia is one of the elite teams in the league, with 15 World Series appearances and 9 world championships. They're coming off two poor years in a row, but those were years when all their best players were off to war; they're about to get those guys back, and they should be competitive again.
Boston and
Buffalo are another story.
Boston has only made two World Series appearances in their 70-year history; they won both times, but the last one was 32 years ago. They did finish over .500 as recently as three years ago (1943), but that was in a war-depleted league.
Buffalo was a great team in the 1880’s (with three league titles during the decade) and a good one in the 1930’s (three pennants but three World Series losses); they've been poor-to-mediocre since.
If you’re looking for a ready-made winner, Philly is your team; if you’re looking for a challenging rebuilding project, Boston or Buffalo fit the bill.
