Broberg was perfect through three.

With one out in the top of the fourth, the White Sox got their first base runner when Broberg mishandled a Henderson grounder.

In the bottom of the fourth, Johnson put the Rangers on the board with a two out RBI single.

Melton led off the bottom of the fifth with a single for the White Sox first hit of the game. Leon put the White Sox in the lead with a two out two run homer.

In the bottom of the fifth, Burroughs gave the Rangers the lead back with a two out two run double.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Rangers loaded the bases with two out. Maddox scored Johnson with an infield single. Madlock followed with a grand slam. Eddie Fisher took the mound for the White Sox. Carty added a two out RBI single. The Rangers batted around the order in the inning.

After six: Texas 9 Chicago 2.

In the top of the eighth, the White Sox loaded the bases with nobody out. Bill Gogolewski took the mound for the Rangers. Pinch hitter Brian Downing went down on strikes for the first out. Allen scored Reichardt when Lenny Randle, playing second, dropped the throw from Harrah. Melton went down on strikes for the second out. Mike Andrews grounded back to the pitcher to retire the side.

The Rangers used a 14 hit attack to overcome their three errors in the contest.

Final score: Texas 9 Chicago 3.
