1999 would bring with it a few things that are worth mentioning. The European Union banned beef imports from the US due to the widespread use of growth hormones, the worlds population surpassed six billion, and Derek Jeter made his first playoff appearance for the New York Yankees where they were unceremoniously swept from the festivities by the eventual champion Kansas City Royals. While team success eluded the the Jeter Bros, Derek & Darryl both made the All-Star team staring opposite each other during the festivities, and Donny, after another year bouncing to and from the DL, was traded to the Colorado Rockies for Melvin Mora and two pitching prospects. With Derek and Darryl well on their way, many scouts think that 2000 will usher in the reemergence of Donny Jeter as he gets a second chance in Colorado.
