06/14/1977 - Big Day by Torre Sparks Mets Win
The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves, 12-6, in NL action at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium, with New York third baseman Joe Torre named player of the game. The Mets bumped their record to 34-30 with this latest triumph.
Torre had a big at-bat with runners on 2nd and 3rd in the top of the first inning, when he hit a 2-run double. The Mets went on to win.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Torre.
Kignman homered off reliever LHP Jamie Easterly.
