Okay, so I did manage to re-install to the previous version (20.4 Build 40) and have been playing for about half an hour with music playing on WinAmp and no problems. Would have crashed within the first 5 minutes using the latest update. Did try other music programs to see if it was WinAmp causing the problem, but had the same thing happen. Got to be something with the new update. And, as I said, I'm on a pc, not Mac.
