The Los Angeles Angels have traded RP Art Fowler to the Baltimore Orioles for RP Bill Short and C Andy Etchebarren.

Johnson had a no-hitter through three.

Mays broke up the no-hitter in the top of the fourth with a leadoff home run.

In the top of the sixth, Cepeda got an RBI single. A walk to Haller loaded the bases with one out. Kuenn struck out swinging at a full count pitch and there were two down. Hiller then grounded to the catcher for the third out.

After six: San Francisco 2 Houston 0.

In the top of the eighth, the Giants again loaded the bases with one out. Kuenn went down looking for the second out. Hiller, though, got an RBI single. Marichal then struck out to retire the side.

Dave Giusti took the mound for the Colt .45s in the top of the ninth.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Colt .45s loaded the bases with one out. Larker drew a walk on a full count pitch and the Colt .45s wereon the board. Jim Duffalo took the mound for the Giants and hit Aspromonte with a pitch to force in another run. Smith went down on strikes for the second out. Taussig then flew to left to end the game.

The Colt .45s were held to just four hits in the contest.

Final score: San Francisco 3 Houston 2.
