Walkers news: April 20 -- St. Louis 5, Twin Cities 3, 10 innings
Record: 10-4, 1st, 2.5 GA Springfield
Andrew Benintendi homered twice, including a three-run shot in the top of the 10th inning, to help the St. Louis River Walkers to a 5-3 win over the Twin Cities Snow Cats at the Metro Dome.
Benintendi's game-winning blast came off reliever Chase Vallot, a catcher who had been pressed into service because of fatigue in the Snow Cats' bullpen.
Benintendi's first homer, a two-run shot off Chris Stratton in the fourth inning, gave St. Louis a 2-1 lead as he drove in all five of his team's runs.
An RBI single from Carlos Santana off Daniel Hudson in the bottom of the ninth inning forced extra innings.
The Cats threatened in the bottom of the 10th, an RBI double from Elroy Jimenez making it 5-3 and putting runners at second and third with two outs.
However, John Curtiss got Gleyber Torres to ground out to end it.
