Rain began to fall in the top of the third. Allen hit an RBI single. Melton followed with his own RBI single.

Lemonds had a no-hitter through three. At the end of the third, the game went into a 43 minute rain delay.

Mincher broke up the no-hitter with a two out single in the bottom of the fourth. On the play, Harrah was thrown out at home by Kelly while trying to score from second.

In the top of the sixth, with runners at first and second and two out, Jim Panther took the mound for the Rangers. Johnstone hit an RBI single.

After six: Chicago 3 Texas 0.

In the top of the seventh, with runners at first and second and one out, Casey Cox took the mound for the Rangers. And he got them out of the inning without allowing the White Sox to increase their lead.

Vicente Romo took the mound for the White Sox in the bottom of the seventh.

In the bottom of the eighth, Cy Acosta took the mound for the White Sox.

Jim Shellenback took the mound for the Rangers in the top of the ninth. Leon added an RBI single.

The White Sox out hit the Rangers 14-1.
