The Rangers do a six game road trip beginning with a weekend series in New York against the Yankees. The Yankees have lost nine straight. The Rangers have lost five of their last six. In the bottom of the first, the Yankees loaded the bases with one out. Munson grounded into the 1-2 fielder's choice for the second out. Clarke then drew a walk to bring home the game's first run. Michael grounded to second to end the inning.

Mincher tied the game with a 393 foot blast to right in the top of the second.

Horacio Pina took the mound for the Rangers in the bottom of the eighth. With a runner on first and one out, Jim Panther took the mound for the Rangers. Michael put Yankees back in the lead with a two out RBI single.

The Rangers went down in orderin the top of the ninth.

The Yankees drew 11 walks in the game.
