Tampa Bay Lightning (3-5-1) at Montreal Canadiens (13-0-0)

Montreal will be looking for their 14th straight win of the season. We will host the Tampa Bay Lightning. Montreal now has a 9 point lead on the 2nd place Bruins. The Canadiens continue to struggle on the PP, we are ranked 26th with a 8.2% success rate. While SH the Habs are pretty good, with a 94.2% success rate we rank 2nd in the NHL.

Riley Callander is not big, at 5'9" most NHLers tower over him, but he plays bigger then his frame. The past 2 seasons he has had 73 and 80 PIMs respectively. This coming from the Canadiens top offensive player. Considered a two way forward the scouts feel the strongest part of his game is goal scoring. The 2-time All-Star has 8 goals and 10 points so far this season in 13 games. In 254 NHL games, he has 108 goals and 94 assists for 202 points. This year he is taking on the role of a number 1 center.

The Lightning are currently in 13th place in the Conference with 7 points, they are currently 6 points out of the final playoff spot. The Lightning have had some success on the PP, they rank 15th in the NHL with a 14.6% success rate. On the other hand, they can be taken advantage of while killing penalties, they rank 29th with a 68.4% kill rate.

Tampa will start G Michael Angell, he has 2 wins with a 3.67 GAA and a .890 save % in 8 games. He had 30 wins with a 2.81 GAA and a .910 save % with the Lightning last year in 61 games. No surprise, Montreal goes with G Wilf Nestor, he has 11 wins with a 1.42 GAA and a .941 save % in 11 games.

In a tight checking 1st period, the shots were 6 a piece. Both Montreal and Tampa were 0 for 3 on the PP in the period.

Tampa Bay gets on the board at 2:37 of the 2nd period, LW Lucas Doug gets his 1st of the season to make it 1-0. Tampa gets a 2-0 lead at 18:27 when C Mark Little gets his 2nd of the year. Tampa out shot Montreal 15 to 9 in the period and killed off a 5 minute major as well. Montreal will need a big 3rd period to extend their winning streak.

Montreal out shot Tampa 10 to 4 in the 3rd and both teams had 25 shots on the night, but the difference is that Montreal could not convert on the PP, an area that Tampa struggled on. Montreal was 0 for 10 on the PP while Tampa was 0 for 4. The streak is over.

Tampa's LW Lucas Doug was the 1st star with a goal. The 21 year old now has 1 goal and 5 points in 10 games for the Lightning. Last year in 82 games he had 10 goals and 24 points for Tampa.
