1918 Rule 5 Draft
Not usually anything going on for the Rule 5 and then I noticed a few diamonds in the rough.
LF Jack Smith was available and I took him in the 1st round #6. After 9 games, he is hitting .366 in the leadoff spot.
1B High Pockets Kelly was taken 2nd round #6 and is hitting .200 in part time play, playing mostly at SS.
SP Urban Shocker was somehow left unprotected and I snatched him up in the 3rd round #6 and is 1-1 with a 3.71 ERA in my starting rotation.
SP Jim Bagby Sr was taken 4th round #6 and is 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA in 1 start. Not sure if I am going to keep him yet and use him as a mopup or EM starter.
I think I have great potential this year with my rotation. My starting rotation now consists of:
1) Pete Alexander - 32 YO
2) Bob Shawkey - 28 YO
3) Urban Shocker - 28 YO
4) Waite Hoyt - 19 YO
I almost was able to get Eddie Cicotte. I had a trade approved, but then I changed how ratings were done in the league settings and when I went back to the trade, what I was offering was longer good enough. Oh well.
