Walkers news: May 24 -- Quad City 8, St. Louis 4

Record: 25-17, 2nd, 3 GB Des Moines
Tied 4-4, the Quad City Thunder scored once in the seventh inning and four times in the eighth, opening the door for an 8-4 win over the St. Louis River Walkers at Busch Stadium.
With the win, Quad City took the final two games of the three-game series.
Down 4-1, St. Louis rallied to even the score by scoring twice in the fifth inning -- two-run homer from Andrew Benintendi -- and once in the sixth -- pinch-hit double from Albert Almora -- but it would not stay tied for long.
Scott Kingery greeted just entered Walkers reliever Grant Dayton with a solo homer, hitting the first pitch 427 feet, to open the seventh inning.
The eighth opened the same way, Lucas Duda with a lead-off solo homer -- also off Dayton.
Kingery, who finished the game 4 for 4 with three runs scored and two RBIs, later added an RBI single off Tony Gonsolin.
Meibrys Viloria followed with a run-scoring double, also off Gonsolin.
Thunder starting pitcher Mike Fiers exited with a tired arm after 4.2 innings, during which he allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits.
Five relievers combined to limit the River Walkers to a single run the rest of the way.
P.J. Conlan, who finished the fifth inning and pitched all of the sixth earned his first win of the season.
