Walkers news: May 12 -- Evansville 9, St. Louis 8

Record: 17-14, 3rd, 3 GB Des Moines
Andrelton Simmons with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning off St. Louis reliever Reyes Moronta to score Jose Ramirez with the game-winning run, as Evansville defeated the River Walkers 9-8 at Yankee Stadium.
Ramirez had drawn a two-out walk and then stole second, putting himself in position to score for Simmons.
A five-run bottom of the third inning for Evansville -- highlighted by a two-run double from Yasiel Puig, a RBI single from Simmons and a bases-loaded walk to Phil Ervin -- had put the Big Bossemen in front 6-2 and chased St. Louis starting Luis Gohara from the game.
But the Walkers answered with four runs in the top of the fourth to tie it. Jin-hwan Chung had the big blow with a three-run homer off Bossemen starter Chad Kuhl.
St. Louis later led 7-6, only to fall behind 8-7.
The Walkers tied it at 8 in the top of the ninth on an RBI double from Manny Pina off reliever Carlos Estevez.
Kuhl lasted just three innings allowing six runs on eight hits.
Evansville used five relievers to finish the game off -- Jario Labourt (2.0 IP), Danny Farquhar (1.0), Sam Tuivailala (1.0), Jacob Lindgren (1.0) and Estevez (1.0) -- to finish the game off.
Simmons was 4 for 4 with four RBIs.
