Walkers news: April 13 -- St. Louis 5, Des Moines 2

Record: 3-0, 1st, 0.5 GA Cedar Rapids
Alex Faedo pitched into the sixth inning and Andrew Benintendi doubled, homered and drove in three runs as St. Louis downed Des Moines 5-2 at LaBatt Park (Montreal).
Benintendi staked the River Walkers to an early lead with a two-run homer off Harvesters starting pitcher Nick Pivetta in the first inning.
He also was part of a three-run third which chased Pivetta.
His double drove in Michael Toglia with the inning's first run.
Nicky Delmonico plated the other two with a single.
Faedo gave up a single run -- on a solo homer from Rafael Devers in the bottom of the fifth -- but got into trouble in the sixth giving up a pair of singles to put runners at the corners with one out.
Brad Hand stepped in and allowed a third single, this one to Grant Witherspoon to quell the rally.
Hand worked a scoreless seventh inning and Jake Brentz followed suit in the eighth.
The ninth belonged to closer Tommy Kahnle, but not without some possible consequences.
He retired the first two Harvesters batters before allowing a triple to Billy McKinney.
Kahnle struck out Devers to end the game and earn his first save, but afterward complained of an injury the team did not disclose.
Faedo worked 5.1 innings, allowing two runs on nine hits. He struck out four and walked one.
