The Cubs will try to finish the four game sweep of the Beaneaters in Boston. Chicago had shut the Beaneaters out in two of the threegames they have played this series.

Bates hit a single in the bottom of the first for his 50th base hit of the season. But he would advance no further.

In the top of the third, the Cubs loaded the bases with two out. But Chance grounded to second to retire the side.

After three: Chicago 0 Boston 0.

In the top of the fourth, the Cubs again loaded the bases with two out but Beebe struck out to retire the side.

In the top of the sixth, Pfeffer struck out Slagle for his 60th K of the season.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Beaneaters loaded the bases with two out and then Pfeffer gave them the lead with a two run single. Bridwell addeda run scoring single as well.

After six: Boston 3 Chicago 0.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Beaneaters scored again, this time on a Dolan single. Brain then crossed the plate when Strobel grounded to short.

In the top of the eighth, Sheckard finally put the Cubs on the board with an RBI single. He then scored when Slagle grounded out to third.

In the top of theninth, Chance made it a two run game with an RBI single. Pfeffer then hit Schulte with a pitch to load the bases with one out. Steinfeldt hit a fly ball to center for the second out without bringing in a run. Sheckard then popped out to first to end the game and the Beaneaters seven game losing streak.

Final score: Boston 5 Chicago 3.
