The Cubs will try to complete the series sweep of the Phillies in Philadelphia. The Cubs have won three straight and the Phillies have lost three straight.

In the top of the first, Dooin threw out Sheckard stealing second for his 40 base stealer caught for the season.

The bottom of the first ended with Titus striking out for the 20th time this season.

In the bottom of the third, Dooin scored from third when Tinker booted a Thomas ground ball. The Phillies went on to load the bases with one out. Titus went down on strikes for the second out. Bransfield then reached on an infield single that scored Thomas. Gleason groundedto first to end the inning.

After three: Philadelphia 2 Chicago 0.

In the top of the fifth, Tinker put the Cubs on the board with an RBI single.

In the top of the sixth, Sheckard tied the game with an RBI single. The Cubs would load the bases with one out. Steinfeldt then brought Sheckard home with a sacrifice fly to give the Cubs the lead.

After six: Chicago 3 Philadelphia 2.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Cubs committed three straight errors, allowing Sparks to score the tying run. Titus then put the Phillies back in the lead with a sacrifice fly.

In the top of the eighth, Steinfeldt tied the game with a run-scoring double.

Gleason led off the bottom of the eighth with his 10th double of the season. Gleason then scored from second on a throwing error by Moran on a Dooin sacrifice bunt. Steinfeldt booted a Sparks grounder and Courtney scored. Dooin then scored on a wild pitch. Magee brought in a run with a single.

In the top of the ninth, Moran hit an RBI double. Pinch hitter Solly Hofman brought in a run on a groundout to second. Evers made it a one run game with a sacrifice fly. Chance would draw his 30th walk of the season. Schulte then singled to right but Titus threw Sheckard out at home as he was trying to score from second to end the game.

The two teams combined for seven unearned runs on nine errors.

Final score: Philadelphia 8 Chicago 7.
