Now only protecting a two-game lead, East Driftwood turned to the 2-0 Jason Skinner and his 1.20 ERA. Hoping to keep West Driftwood’s winning ways alive was Eric Stull, who despite a 1.69 ERA was 1-2.

The game remained a 0-0 tie until the top of the eighth. Jane Martin and Jody Kolb combined for a ten-batter, four-run inning from West Driftwood, including a two-run home run from Brian Swift. Between them, the two starters had a combined seven hits over the first seven innings. Martin and Kolb had given up five and walked two. West Driftwood added three more runs to their total in the top of the ninth before Stull returned to the mound to pitch the final three outs of a complete game, 109-pitch shutout.
