Chang-sik Na made his third start of the season. He was 0-0 through his first 9.2 innings but had a 9.31 ERA. He faced Scott Rogers, who was 0-1 despite his 2.43 ERA. Rogers had vastly improved in his second start and was hoping to build on the momentum from that start.
For seven innings, the game was a pitcher’s duel. Na and Rogers combined for eleven strikeouts and runners only reached third on two occasions. However, in the top of the eighth, West Driftwood took a 1-0 through a home run from Rick Welch hit off reliever Adam Johnson. Na’s luck finally ran out in the bottom of the inning as he loaded the bases before giving up a two run single to give East Driftwood a late lead. Paul Greenwood and Jason Canales then pitched a fierce ninth inning that closed out the game and gave East Driftwood the win.
W: A. Johnson (1-1) L: C. Na (0-1) SV: J. Canales (1)
