Montreal continues with their tour of the west stopping into the Scotiabank Saddledome to take on the 4-5-2 Calgary Flames. C Jeff Pilbeam will have his iron man streak stopped at 229 games as he will not dress. G Bill Wolfenbarger will start for Montreal.

Montreal takes the lead on a RW Robert Cull's 2nd of the year at 6:23 to take a 1-0 lead. Montreal out shot Calgary 15-4 and had a lengthy 5 on 3 PP that did not payoff.

Montreal goes up 2-0 as RW Joey Mariani gets his own rebound and scores his 6th of the year at 5:17 of the 2nd. The period ends with the Canadiens leading 2-0 and out shooting the Flames 30-7.

There is no scoring in the 3rd as the Canadiens hang on for a 2-0 win over the Flames. The final shots were 40-15 for Montreal. G Bill Wolfenbarger gets the shutout. Montreal Canadiens RW Joey Mariani had a goal and was named the 1st star. The 21 year old now has 6 goals and 12 points in 14 games with 12 PIMs and a +1 rating. After being undrafted from the CHL, he signed as a free agent with the Canucks in July 2001, he was later traded to Montreal by the Canucks in January 2002.
