AI evaluation of players does not scale with aging factors?

This didn't belong in the 21 forum because I haven't tested it out yet. Hence, it is here.

But I remain befuddled by John Quirk's free agency experience. He is a very good LF (no other significant fielding abilities). This is in a non-DH league. Very important to note that this is a league that plays 102 games per year.

Coming off his age 31 season, Quirk entered FA having earned 6.1 WAR with 35 HR and an OPS of 1.125 (OPS+ 197). We waited until somewhat late in FA and grabbed him for 2 years plus a 3rd year (player option) for way below market price.

His next 2 years with us: 46 HR, 1.278 OPS (225+), 7.1 WAR, 3rd in MVP voting. Then 37 HR, 1.148 OPS (194+), 6.0 WAR, World Series MVP, 2nd in MVP voting. He non-foolishly exercised his opt-out.

I grabbed him again in FA this off-season for a slight raise over last year (one year guaranteed plus a player opt for 2nd year). He is admittedly 34 this year. But this is a league where guys last into their early 40's with good stats. Plus he is a Captain and a beloved player nationally.

I'm guessing that the AI doesn't look at the aging factors in the league?
