Walkers news: May 8 -- St. Louis 9, Chicago 2

Record: 15-11, 2nd, 1 GB Des Moines
St. Louis broke up a 1-1 game with five runs in the top of the third inning and went on for a 9-2 win over Chicago at Wrigley Field (1979).
Three consecutive one-out hits, singles by Andrew Benintendi and Rhys Hoskins and a double from Nicky Delmonico, got things rolling against G-Men starting pitcher Tyler Chatwood, as Delmonico's RBI made it 2-1.
All the rest of the runs came with two outs.
Jean Carmona scored one with a single. J.T, Realmuto plated two with a double.
Pitcher Aaron Nola drove in the final run with another single, and sent Chatwood to the shower.

Rookie Steve Ruland enjoyed quite a major-league debut.
His home run in the fourth inning made it 6-1. He finished the game 4 for 5 with a homer, a double, two singles and two runs scored.
Carmona also enjoyed quite a game. He was 3 for 4 with a homer, three RBIs and two runs scored.
Nola allowed a run in the first, but shut down the G-Men through the seventh after that.
He allowed five hits over his seven innings, striking out three and walking one.
Bill Warson allowed a meaningless run in the eighth and also took care of the ninth.
