Beni lost his only shot at a title when he was stopped in the tenth round of a bout for the Commonwealth Junior Welterweight belt by Hector Thompson. He beat Speedo Duke, Phil Davies, Ross Eddie, Wally Carr, Colin Cassidy and Jimmy Gillon. Drew with Carr and lost to Andy Broome, Kerry Bell, Steve Dennis, and Kid Matthews.
