Edmonton Oilers (52-17-6) at Montreal Canadiens (44-25-4)

We are playing the top team in the NHL at the Bell Center tonight. In our only meeting of the season we lost 4-1 in Edmonton. Montreal remains 2 points out of 2nd behind Buffalo while we are tied with the Bruins for 3rd with 1 game in hand.

Montreal are excited to have rookie LD Martin Beran up from the AHL covering for injured defenseman Matej Ouhrabka. The 19 year old has played in 6 games since being called up and has 2 assist with 4 PIMs to show for it. The former Edmonton Oil King (WHL) played 48 games in the AHL for the IceCaps as well this season, he had 7 goals and 33 points with 61 PIMs. Beran was Montreal's 173rd overall pick in the 1981 NHL Entry Draft.

As mentioned, the Oilers lead the NHL with 110 points in 75 games. They have a 19 point lead on the 2nd place Predators. The Oilers can just flat out score, they lead the NHL with 3.55 goals per game. There only weakness if you can call it that is that they are ranked 11th with a 85.7% PK rate.

The Oilers will start G Saku Heikkinen, he has 27 wins in 42 games with a .913 save %. Montreal starts G Mike Blackshear, he has 36 wins in 59 games and a .904 save %.
