Danny Sanchez, the 35-year old left fielder for the San Francisco Velocity, often flies under the radar with his focused, quiet approach to the game and boring consistency. But yesterday he became just the 5th player in WPK history to collect 2000 career hits. The four players ahead of him- Felix Lopez, Josh Jenkins, Travis Johnson, and Jesus Casiano- are likely Hall of Famers. Whether Sanchez reaches that distinction or not is still very much in question, but he can be proud of his distinguished career, which has included one MGL MVP award (1968), one Gold Glove (1965), 6 All-Star game appearances, the most recent in 1971, and a pair of Silver Slugger awards.
And now add to that list membership in the 2000 hit club.
