2066 Season (MLB)

October/November 2066:
MLB:
For the 3rd time in four years, the Brooklyn Citizens earned the opportunity to play in the World Series and the chance to turn their fortunes around after losing the first two in heartbreaking fashion against the Portland Timbers and Toronto Reds BC respectively. Unfortunately, Toronto was too strong for the Citizens and dispatched them with ease over four games in one of the most lopsided World Series in the history of the league. For Toronto, the win secured their 4th World Series banner and 2nd of the last three years.

2065 Playoffs:
World Series:
Toronto Reds BC defeat Brooklyn Citizens (4-0)
ALCS: Toronto Reds BC defeat Portland Timbers (4-2) – Nice bit of revenge for Toronto here…
NLCS: Brooklyn Citizens defeat Los Angeles Lakers (4-2)
WS MVP: 3B Jefferson Navarro (TOR) - .471/.471/1.000, 3 HR, 8 RBI

2065 AL Boyce Rigg Award (MVP): 1B Michael Harrier (New York Jets, 25, 23rd overall pick out of Cal State Fullerton in 2063). On the season he compiled a .333 batting average to go with a .396 on-base percentage. The native of Provo, Utah also added 45 doubles, 1 triple, 31 home runs, 124 RBIs and 109 runs scored.

2065 NL Boyce Rigg Award (MVP): CF P.J. Trudell (St. Louis Rams, 26, 3rd overall pick out of Binghamton in 2062). His winning campaign featured a .340 batting average and a .449 on-base percentage this year. In 159 games he piled up 201 hits, 30 doubles, 3 triples, 34 home runs, 106 RBIs and 114 runs scored. His 9.4 WAR is the 3rd highest single-season WAR in the league’s history.

2065 AL Vic Pacheco Award (Top Pitcher): SP Alex Jackal (2-Time Winner, Toronto Reds BC, 26, 152nd overall pick out of Texas in 2060). Jackal compiled a 18-11 record in 32 starts, tallied 340 strikeouts in 237 innings and recorded a 3.23 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .239 batting average against him.

2065 NL Vic Pacheco Award (Top Pitcher): SP Josiah Weber (3-time Winner, 27, 3rd overall pick out of Oklahoma State in 2060). The Phoenix hurler held opposing hitters to a .215 batting average while putting up a 15-11 record and a 2.68 earned run average. He started 34 games, pitched 258.2 innings and struck out 364.

Shortlist:
SS Derek Jeter Jr. (Pittsburgh Pirates, 28) - .310/.369/.445, 21HR, 82 RBI in 159 Games with a 3.3 WAR. Hit his second career grand slam against the Vancouver Whitecaps.

SS Donny Jeter (Dallas Cowboys, 28) - .310/.384/.446, 21 HR, 77 RBI in 159 games with a 3.2 WAR. Made the All-Star team for the second time (pulling even with Derek) and was selected as a Silver Slugger for the second consecutive season.

SS Darryl Jeter (Vancouver Whitecaps, 28) – More injuries… Release seems imminent…

RF John Kruk (Golden State Warriors (By trade), 37) – Suffered through his worst season as a professional and finished with a -1.0 WAR. Kruk retired at the end of the season after 14 seasons in Major League Baseball. He made the all-star team 3 times and won a Silver Slugger during his time in the bigs…

RF Dave Winfield (Dallas Cowboys, 29) - .284/.335/.431, 14 HR, 69 RBI in 119 games with a 0.9 WAR. After two years playing in the Bush League, Winfield finally seems to have put his injuries behind him. He played solidly for Dallas, hopefully, this is a sign that he will stick in the MLB for a few more years.

RF Jules Winfield (Sugarland Skeeters (STL AAA), 24) - .250/.305/.378, 10 HR, 39 RBI with a 1.0 WAR. Missed 3 games with food poisoning, regressed from his debut season. Too many double cheeseburgers I suppose.

Shortlisted Nerds (Former NCAA MIT Equations players):
SP Travis Dranchak (San Diego Chargers, 26) – 3-5, 3.42 ERA, 92 IP, 38 BB, 83 K, ERA+ 115, 1.1 WAR

Shortlisted Stallyns (SAN DIMAS HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL RULES):
2B Randall Berger (Austin Grackles (DAL-AAA), 22) – .326/.389/.471, 7 HR, 44 RBI, 2.7 WAR. A good start for San Dimas CC’s first top 10 pick.
