To clarify, the game only holds so many players. When players retire they are either kept in storage, if they are a hall of famer or on the career leaderboard, or if not they are replaced for a new incoming rookie.
If the player is replaced, he will be removed from the past champions list.
This does seem like something easy the guys can hopefully fix.... perhaps just make the past champions a list of the players instead of needing to link up with the player card.
