Montreal Canadiens (18-13-1) at Nashville Predators (18-12-2)

The slumping Canadiens face the Predators at the Bridgestone Arena. Earlier this year Montreal beat Nashville at the Bell Center 4-1. But those times seem a long time ago as the Canadiens fall quickly in the standings. Montreal are now 6th in the East, 12 points out of 1st and 4 points out of 9th. Montreal ranks 29th in the NHL with just 2.09 goals per game, while defensively they rank 9th at 2.41 goals per game.

21 year old C Ben Archer hails from Toronto, ON. The offensive forward scouts say has strong playmaking skills. Currently centering the 4th line in a playmaker role, Archer has gone from over 17 minutes per game in his debut season in 1981-82 to just 11:39 minutes of ice time this season. Montreal signed Archer as a free agent in July of 1981, he made his NHL debut on November 2nd, 1981. This season he has 2 goals and 11 points in 32 games with 22 PIMs. For his career he has 16 goals and 46 points with 80 PIMs in 126 career NHL games with Montreal.

The Predators are currently in 7th place in the West with 38 points. They are just 4 points back of the 1st place Jets. The Predators rank 17th in goal scoring with 2.56 goals per game, they allow 2.28 goals a game which ranks them 6th in the NHL.

Nashville starts G Kevin Ward, he has 16 wins with a 2.38 GAA and a .914 save % in 27 games. Last season he had 38 wins with a 2.05 GAA and a .918 save % in 62 games with Nashville. Montreal starts G Wilf Nestor, he has 15 wins with a 2.26 GAA and a .920 save % in 26 games.

Nashville's LD Pat Robertson ends it with this 3rd goal of the year at 1:29 of the overtime. The shots in overtime were 1-1 but Nashville out shot Montreal 39-17 in the game. Montreal did not get a PP in the game while the Predators were 0 for 5.

Nashville LD Pat Robertson was the 1st star with his goal. The 20 year old from Ogden, NC now has 3 goals and 9 points with 15 PIMs in 32 games. In his 3rd season with the Predators, he had a career high of 32 points last season.
