Montreal Canadiens (18-12-1) at Minnesota Wild (14-14-1)

The Canadiens continue to look to find a way to break the slump, they have to do it on back to back nights. Montreal has fallen into 5th spot in the Eastern Conference, 10 points behind the Bruins for 1st, but only 4 points out of 9th. Montreal ranks 29th on the PP with a woeful 8.3 % success rate. They rank 2nd in the NHL with a 88.2% PK rate.

RW Adrian Andersson is a 20 year old from Vasteras, SWE. Considered a power forward, the blue chip prospect is a strong physical player. Currently Andersson is playing RW on the 2nd line being used in a set up man role. Andersson was the Canadiens 1st round, 7th overall pick in the 1982 NHL Entry Draft. Andersson made his Canadiens debut on November 3rd, 1983. He won the QMJHL's 1982 Goal scorer award when he potted 52 for the Baie-Comeau Drakkar. So far in his rookie season, he has 1 goal and 2 points with 11 PIMs in 11 games.

The Wild currently reside in 13th spot in the Western Conference with 29 points, 7 points out of the last playoff spot. The Wild have a 14.0 % success rate on the PP which ranks them 24th in the NHL. They kill penalties at a 86.6% rate, ranked 8th in the NHL.

The Wild will start G Karl Maurice, he has 10 wins with a 2.53 GAA and a .923 save % in 24 games. Last year he had 35 wins with a 2.90 GAA and a .907 save % in 66 games with the Wild. Montreal goes with G Stefan Mertel, he has 3 wins with a 2.16 GAA and a .908 save % in 7 games.

Minnesota goes up 1-0 at 3:38 when RW Foster Swift gets his 11th of the season on the PP. Minnesota goes up 2-0 at 10:07 when C Stefan Blazo gets his 2nd of the year. Montreal trails 2-0 but out shot the Wild 7-6 in the 1st.

Minnesota takes a 3-0 lead at 8:33 when C Curt Scurfield gets his 6th of the season, The shots were 9-8 in favor of the Wild in the 2nd.

Minnesota goes up 4-0 at 0:43 of the 3rd period when LW Jean-David Blais gets his 8th of the year. The rout continues, Minnesota goes up 5-0 at 2:54 when LW Justin Joncas gets his 10th. Its now 6-0 when LD Alex Towery gets his 5th of the year. Montreal has not scored a goal for since mid way through the Leafs games or for over 10 periods of hockey. The shots in the 3rd were 10-10 and for the game 25-25. Montreal was 0 for 5 while Minnesota was 1 for 4.

Minnesota's LD Alex Towery was the 1st star with his 1 goal and 3 assists. The 34 year old from Pico Riveria, CA now has 5 goals and 20 points with 27 PIMs in 30 games. The 1981 Hart Trophy Winner and 3-time All Star is in his 4th season with the Wild, he had a career high of 62 points in the 1980-81 season.
