We are back home to begin a 7 game home stand that will last 10 days with 2 games against the Sacramento Solons. They won 3 out of 4 in San Diego over the weekend. They are 13th in the PCL in scoring so far with 3.84 runs per game (Portland is dead last with 3.47). That's what happens when you trade one 40+ HR hitter away and the other quits hitting home runs.... The Solons have only hit 9 HR on the season, but we have only hit 8, the fewest in Baseball. Sacramento is also 13th in fewest runs allowed with 4.95 per game (Portland is down to #3 with 3.68). We are going to drop a lot further before the season is over...

Sanchez pitched a CG win in his first start, allowing 6 hits and 3 runs. Since then he is 0-3 with 18 runs allowed in 10.1 IP.

Muir had 3 excellent starts to begin the season, including an 11 inning outing where he did not allow a run, But in his last start, he gave up 6 runs in 2.1 innings.

Top of the Third:
With 1 out, P Juan Sanchez tales a 3-2 pitch for ball 4... With 2 outs, Dale Cave lines a single to right. Dennis Rayner clears the bases with a double to left... 2 to 0, Solons.

Bottom of the Fourth:
Bill Wilson swings at a 3-2 pitch and grounds a hit up the middle. He goes to 2nd on a ground out and then steals 3rd. Glenn Snowden flies out to deep center and Wilson trots home. 2 to 1, Solons.

Bottom of the Fifth:

Shannon Kuchta swings at a 3-2 pitch and grounds a hit up the middle. With 1 out, he steals the first base of his career. With 2 outs, P Steve Muir grounds a hit to left and Kuchta scores to tie the game at 2 all!

Bottom of the Sixth:
Bill Wilson bloops a hit to right. Melvin Rodarte lines a soft one to center for a hit, but Les Olds boots the ball trying to pick it up and runner are at 2nd and 3rd with no outs. They walk Glenn Snowden intentionally to load them up. Fernando Mexicano works the count full and then grounds one through the right side against the drawn in infield for a hit and Wilson scores! 3 to 2, Beavers! Shannon Kuchta also works the count to full and then takes ball 4 to force in another run! 4 to 2, Beavers! Dave Risinger beats out an infield hit and another runner crosses the plate! 5 to 2, Beavers! That sends P Juan Sanchez to the showers. New Pitcher: Freddie Kirkendall (25-R). 3.09 ERA in 11.2 IP. Jose de Haro (23-R) is in to play short in a double switch and is making his Major League debut. Craig Petitto fouls out to the right side, 2B Jim Holberton making the catch. 1 out. P Steve Muir grounds into a 6-2-3 double play...

Top of the Ninth:
Jim Holberton leads off with a walk and Lee Olds grounds a hit to center. PH Mike Gausman (38-L) is announced. 3 for 8 (.375) with a walk. Call to the Bullpen: Dick Register (27-L). Gausman strikes out looking! Call to the Bullpen: Garry Ayers (28-R). Pinch-Hitter: Eddie Dawson (36-L). 1 for 6 (.167) on the season. He strikes out! 2 down. Mario Vasquez takes a 3-2 pitch for ball 4 to load the bases up. Pinch-Hitter: Harvey Turner (23-L), a rookie hitting .269. He grounds a 2-2 pitch to right for a hit and a run scores... 5 to 3, Beavers. Eddie Dyer flies out to left and THIS Ball Game Belongs to the Beavers!

LHP Dick Register (H 3) faced 1 batter and struck him out.
RHP Garry Ayers (SV 2) got 2 outs, allowed 1 hit and 1 walk and struck out 1.

Juan Sanchez (L 1-4) went 5+ innings, gave us 5 runs, 8 hits, 2 walks (1 INT) and struck out 3. At bat, he drew a walk and scored a run.
RHP Freddie Kirkendall went 3 innings and only faced 8 batters, retiring everyone he faced.

RF Bill Wilson had 2 hits, stole a base and scored 2 runs. LF Fernando Mexicano had 2 hits and an RBI.
