This exact thing happened to me after the latest patch using Live Start. I posted about it in the bug forum. You should add to that.
I always set up a global template when I start, and it always worked up to the latest patch.
I think I ended up just doing a completely new template and saving it again before starting over, which worked, but that was the only way I could get around it.
I'm pretty sure it has something to do with Live Start. I unchecked the box for injuries and new teams -- I just wanted stats/standings/ratings updated, that's it.
