Billings then put the Rangers in the lead with a two run single.

In the top of the ninth, the Rangers again loaded the bases with one out. Nelson grounded into the 1-2 fielder's choice for the second out. Mincher then flew to left to retire the side.

The Royals went down in order in the bottom of the ninth.
