Yes, Bruce Wayne, errr, Batman is correct with his answer. Do not release the player, but put him on your DL. He will retire at the end of the year regardless of where he is, but if you release him you will take a cash hit of the entire amount of his contract. However, if he retires from your team, you are absolved from the remainder of the deal.
