Ouch! What a brutal second half of April. The problems offensively were ones mentioned in the last post - Kaladimos and Fish just collapsed. Perly the Younger still isn't hitting, which is discouraging. The back of the rotation is spotty, Ulrich has a streak of four straight so-so starts (not flat out horrid, but not good either), and Crowell got hammered the last two times out.
It's not time to panic, but with the Red Sox off to a good start and a very active GM in wheeling & dealing, Goose needs to balance "patience" (with guys like Perly) with not being to innactive. They have a little excess talent, but it's also a team with a core that's going to be good for years. Risking future success to Win Now is just that - a big risk.
