Well Firaxis are still developing Civ 4 and have recently released some work-in-progress screen shots. The good news is that Sid is taking the lead developer role on this, he really didn't have a lot to do personally with the devlopment of Civ3.
I wouldn't at all be surprsed to learn that the mystery buyers are Firaxis themselves.
