Bugs in Live broadcast
I could not find any mention of this in any forums:
I ran the live game option today with a couple people watching and all ran smooth, but I did notice a couple of glitches.
The server is updated after each play, but it IS NOT updated after a wild pitch, a stolen base, pinch hitter and relief pitcher. So the people watching see gaps. All of a sudden a runner will be on 2nd base with no explanation.
For improvements, I would rather see the latest play at the top of the screen or even split 1/2 with the defense, so you do not have to scroll down to see the result. It would also be nice if they could implement some javascript, so that it does the update when the data changes, instead of just doing a screen refresh every so often. Plays are missed. It would not be too hard. They could have a simple play counter file on the server that could be incremented everytime something happened that changed the data, RP, PH, at bat, etc., then the java app could be monitoring that. I know it is a rewrite of the whole HTML page.
I may even tinker with this, as I know a little bit about java programming. I am thinking about a HTML file that has a frame layout and have the java monitor the generated box score for changes and then load the frame in.
