Thanks to Matt for the 1947 league file, these are the results for the leaders in Win Shares in 1947:

Code:
Batters

1. Ray Kress DET 37.9
2. Skeeter Schaldemose CIN 34.5
3. Tom Howard NYG 34.2
4. Harry Badeau PHA 30.6
5. Vern Piernatzski SLA 30.3

Pitchers

1. Billy Simson SLA 33.8
2. James Mosich BOS 30.5
3. Bob Bussmann CHA 29.8
4. Mickey Lonergan PHI 28.3
5. Bill Finley WSH 28.2
Less for Howard than I would have expected. Kress did put up a .352-40-118 line, compared to Howards .352-33-137, so you can see why Kress would have more WS.

Overall, 1947 was a bigger offensive year in general than 1946, with the AL total ERA jumping from 4.06 to 4.31, so individual offensive numbers yield fewer Win Shares.

If anyone is curious, Skeeter Schaldemose has the most "career" win shares through the two seasons.
