yeah i understand what your saying and thats what i think is one of the problems with historical players. The potential is absed too much on a rookie season and not on whole career. That is fine for fictional but it suucks for historical. Because even though you Babe Ruth may not become Babe Ruth because of injuries or some other reason he should still have the potential. There should be a greater chance of him becoming great but using the Lahman database theres not much chance of great players with poor rookie seasons becoming as great as real life.
I dont think this would interfer with the concept that you dont know if
a player will become great because of the other factors.
I mean a Barry Bonds doesnt lose their talent or potenial just because you didnt choose him but he might if you do not use him properly or he gets injured.
Although i dont think it should be guaranteed but right now it favors rookies seasons too much.
But hey thank God we have the Ankit database and those other great roasters.
