A lot of the problems are easily solved with
www.irfanview.com. Download the software. (It's free.) You can do batch conversion (to change to BMP), batch cropping (to get rid of the bar), resizing etc... So long as all the pictures are the same size (which obviously they would be) it'd be dead easy to sort out. So that's no issue at all really. A few mouse clicks and it's all done for you.
